The Ladybird Tower offers a natural habitat for ladybirds and beneficial insects.
A central chamber is filled with natural material—many holes drilled at an upward angle for the insects to reach the insulated and safe inner chamber. (If required, the roof panel may be removed for inspection or cleaning). There is a ground pole provided, so the tower is easy to site into lawns, sheltered flower beds, wooded glades or even planters. Note The pole is attached to the reverse of the tower for transport, undo the screw to release.
Siting
Site out of prevailing winds in a warm location.
Maintenance
The roof and base are oak, larch or similar naturally durable timber – so no preservative need be used as it may be harmful to the ladybirds. Ladybird food/attractant can be used with the tower if necessary or release larvae with food.
